Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah is the Founder and Executive Director of Kaizen Institute for Labour Economics. He is a Labour Economist and former Secretary General of Trades Union Congress (TUC)-Ghana from 2016 to 2024. Prior to his election as Deputy Secretary General in 2008 and, subsequently, as Secretary General of the TUC, Dr. Baah served as Head of TUC’s Research Department and Director of Labour Research and Policy Institute. Dr. Baah holds PhD in Economics from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom, MSc in Financial Economics from the Norwegian School of Management in Oslo, Norway, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics with French from the University of Ghana, Legon.
Dr. Baah has received various academic awards including certificates/ diplomas from Harvard Business School Executive Education Programme from United States, International Institute for Labour and Cooperative Studies from Tel Aviv in Israel, International Labour Organisation (ILO) International Training Centre in Turin, Italy, and the World Bank Institute in Washington D.C, USA. Dr. Baah is currently a member of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organisation in Geneva, Switzerland. He served as a member of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) of Ghana from 2017 to 2024. He has previously served on the Management Committee of the Institute for Statistical, Social, and Economic Research of the University of Ghana, Advisory Board of the International Centre for Development and Decent Work (ICDD) of the University of Kassel in Germany, Ghana National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA}, Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), and Advisory Committee of the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
